The Opportunity
As an Associate Solicitor in the Commercial Property team you’ll handle a diverse caseload of commercial property transactions whilst receiving excellent supervision and mentorship from experienced partners. This role offers the perfect balance of autonomy and support allowing you to develop your technical skills whilst building lasting client relationships across retail, corporate, hospitality and development sectors.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing your own caseload of commercial property transactions including acquisitions, disposals, leases and refinancing matters
- Drafting and negotiating contracts, leases, licences and other commercial property documentation
- Conducting due diligence including title investigation, local authority searches, index map searches and environmental enquiries
- Preparing comprehensive reports to clients on title searches and transaction risks
- Managing the transaction process from instruction through to exchange and completion including undertaking and confirming exchanges
- Providing proactive, commercially focused legal advice to businesses, professional partnerships, charities and national corporations
- Collaborating with senior colleagues on complex high-value transactions to develop your expertise
- Building and maintaining client relationships through excellent service delivery and commercial awareness
- Contributing to business development activities and supporting the growth of the department
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with 5+ years PQE in commercial property law
- Solid technical foundation across commercial property transactions including acquisitions, disposals and landlord and tenant matters
- Experience managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision, demonstrating strong file management skills
- Excellent drafting abilities with meticulous attention to detail in contracts, leases and legal documentation
- Strong due diligence skills including title investigation, search interpretation and risk analysis
- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice
- Effective communication skills able to explain complex legal issues clearly to clients and colleagues
- Proactive approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
- Client-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
Desirable Skills
- Experience with property development transactions and overage agreements
- Knowledge of property finance and secured lending documentation
- Familiarity with commercial landlord and tenant legislation and lease renewals
