We are currently seeking a Product Design Engineer to join a growing engineering and manufacturing company based in Stevenage. This role is well suited to someone with experience in consumer products who enjoys taking designs from concept through to production, balancing functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop consumer-focused products from initial concept through to manufacture.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Consider product usability, appearance, materials, and performance throughout the design process.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and project teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
  • Support prototyping, testing, validation, and design refinement.
  • Manage design changes and maintain accurate technical documentation and BOMs.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential).
  • Experience as a Product Design Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
  • Consumer products experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacture and assembly.
  • Good knowledge of materials and production processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
