CTC Pressings Group incorporates The Cheshire Tool Company Ltd. (CTC) based in Timperley, Cheshire & ALT Engineering in Saddleworth (ALT). They are established metal manufacturing businesses that serve a range of customers from global blue-chip organisations to smaller SMEs in providing metal parts and components. CTC focuses on metal pressings and stamping of tooled components. ALT specialise in fabricated parts. The Group services a global customer base with around 30% of Group sales in exports.

CTC Group has a small team of around 17 with a management team including the Owner/Manager (CEO), a Technical Director, Office Manager, Operations Manager at ALT and production staff across both sites. The Group is profitable, generating around £1.4m in revenues at a good margin and the objective of this role is for the successful candidate to work for the team to increase turnover to over £2m.

The role will have a basic salary of £27,000, a car allowance (£360 p.m.) and offer significant bonuses for generating new business. Sales and new business development is key to the Group's development; however, our core skills to date have focused on developing more business with existing customers and we have had reasonable success with this, but we now require a dedicated new business resource.

Other new business sales have traditionally come through referrals and word of mouth; however, we do subscribe to a new business online portal as a resource. The successful candidate will develop and data-mine this portal with the Technical Director's support. We would expect the candidate to develop the wider sales and marketing activities generally, including the company website and social media presence (which is nonexistent) and we will commit an annual budget (TBA) to support this development.

We require a sales and business development person who can go and see new potential customers with a degree of technical knowledge about what we can do and be able to represent the Group at trade fairs and exhibitions with the CEO. They will also be expected to contribute to the development of the company's marketing. There is a lot of historical data in the company that needs to be invigorated so this role will require energy to categorize this.

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Director / Managing Director, the role involves understanding the business' products and capabilities and existing customers about the products and components we produce for them. There will be significant time needed to be spent on this.

The successful candidate will research other companies and build up target new customer lists, present ideas for filtering with the Technical Director, and travel to see all existing customers (physically, not via Teams) and engage new targets. These visits and new business quotes will form part of the bonus award to be agreed. Due to the nature of our business, which typically includes long-term customer supply, a continuous bonus (level to be agreed) would be paid on all revenue generated from those customers during the term of employment.

Personality

This industry has an older workforce, but the Group is open to interviewing candidates of all ages and requires commitment to travel across the UK and overseas. The role requires energy and the ability to "make things happen". The role includes a car; therefore the successful candidate must be a self-starter who can research the market, make appointments using both existing customers and newly researched prospects, and physically visit new and existing customers. They will often accompany the CEO to see customers, develop accounts, and meet key performance indicators such as the number of customer visits, new companies visited, trade exhibitions attended, and other non-direct sales activities.

The candidate will also research suitable trade shows, negotiate attendance as a delegate, and may host or attend future trade shows. Travel overseas to see existing and potential customers, with the Technical Director and/or the CEO, may also be required.

Prospects

This role offers the opportunity to work in a flat organisational structure, develop existing relationships, court new business, travel extensively, and enjoy the freedom of a car to set appointments. Significant ongoing bonuses will be awarded for success.

Location

The role will be based out of the Timperley head office with a desk there. The successful candidate will spend considerable time on the road seeing customers, while a balance of working from home will be acceptable.
