We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Industrial Operative to join our Boarding Department within a busy manufacturing facility. This role involves working with timber, sheet materials, and pre-fabricated wooden components to support the production of high-quality frames and structures.
This position is ideal for someone who is practical, detail-oriented, and confident using hand and power tools in a workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities- Measure, cut, and prepare timber and sheet materials using tools such as tape measures, circular saws, and drills
- Assemble wooden frames, panels, and structural components in line with production drawings and specifications
- Operate machinery and equipment safely, following all training and site procedures
- Carry out boarding, cladding, and finishing tasks to required quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring materials are stored correctly
- Work efficiently to support production targets and communicate any issues promptly
- Conduct basic checks on tools and equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance requirements
- Follow all health & safety procedures, including manual handling and PPE requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, joinery, or workshop environment (desirable)
- Confident using hand and power tools, including drills and circular saws
- Ability to read measurements and work accurately to millimetre precision
- Strong practical skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
