A Walk Tester is required for conducting in-field testing and data collection to evaluate the performance and coverage of wireless networks (e.g., 4G, 5G, DAS systems). This role involves following predefined test routes, operating technical equipment, and documenting results accurately for analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Test Plans: Perform walk tests using a predefined set of instructions and routes within various indoor or outdoor environments.
  • Operate and Calibrate Equipment: Set up, calibrate, and operate specialized testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers.
  • Data Collection and Logging: Collect and log Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as signal strength, call success rates, throughput, and latency, or record the ID, signal strength, and battery status of PIR detectors.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor live data logs for anomalies, call drops, or coverage gaps during testing and perform basic troubleshooting of testing equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of routes, test cases, and test results, and assist in preparing detailed reports for engineers or clients.
  • Site Surveys (for telecoms): Conduct site surveys to gather information, take photos, and understand specific requirements (e.g., landlord rules).
  • Health & Safety: Comply with all health, safety, and security protocols during field operations.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in a testing or field operations role is beneficial.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with relevant testing software and equipment - NEMO or TEMS.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and navigation systems.
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical specifications, instructions, and drawings.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for identifying and documenting issues.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements or work locations.
  • Physical/Logistical:
    • Physically fit, as the role involves significant walking and potentially carrying equipment in backpacks.
    • A valid driver's license.
