A rapidly growing specialist contractor, delivering facade remediation, cladding replacement and external wall system (EWS) projects across London and the South East, is looking to recruit a Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding commercial team. The Role

Working closely with the Commercial Director and senior commercial team, you will assist with the commercial management of multiple facade and cladding projects from pre-construction through to final account. This role would suit someone with previous construction experience, a construction-related qualification, or a strong desire to build a long-term career within Quantity Surveying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the commercial management of facade, cladding and external wall system projects
  • Supporting the preparation of valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Assisting with procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining commercial records
  • Supporting cost reporting and forecasting activities
  • Assisting with contract administration under JCT contracts
  • Attending project and commercial meetings
  • Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Supporting the wider commercial and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget

Requirements

  • Previous experience within construction, either in a commercial, site-based or administrative capacity would be advantageous
  • Degree, HNC/HND or studying towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline preferred
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within a specialist construction sector
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
