As a Database Architect, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, securing and maintaining our database schema and infrastructure to enable and support enterprise-class SaaS operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, design, architecture, performance optimization, security, and cloud database technologies, with a keen ability to enhance our data architecture for scalability and efficiency. With an emphasis on reliability, quality, security, efficiency, and automation, the solutions you deliver and enable will directly contribute to customer success and help drive TradeCentric’s next phase of growth.

Report To: Sr. Director of Architecture

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Hours: Working hours should overlap with US Eastern time at least from 9am - 1pm

What You’ll Do:

  • Database Administration & Optimization: Maintain and optimize database schema and performance, ensuring high security, availability, and scalability.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce database security and integrity best practices, access controls, and compliance policies such as GDPR and PCI-DSS.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Develop, test, and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies for business continuity.
  • Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Set up and manage database monitoring tools, proactively addressing performance bottlenecks.
  • Query Optimization: Proactively analyze and optimize queries to enhance performance and reduce system load and collaborate.
  • Cloud Database Migration: Research, plan, and execute cloud database migrations between leading platforms including Amazon RDS and Google Cloud SQL.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts for database maintenance, monitoring, and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Database Architecture: Collaborate with engineering teams to design scalable, efficient, and well-structured databases, and to optimize query and transaction processing.
  • Data Pipeline Support: Guide and support development of data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to align database strategies with business needs.

Who You Are:

  • Easy to work with: An effective communicator, positive team player, and natural collaborator.
  • Experience: 7-9 years of database administration experience in a SaaS environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Database Expertise: MariaDB/MySQL on Amazon RDS and/or Google Cloud SQL, and ElasticSearch.
  • Security & Compliance: Deep understanding and application of database security best practices, encryption, access control, and compliance requirements including GDPR.
  • Backup & Recovery: Experience implementing reliable backup, restore, and disaster recovery.
  • Performance Tuning: Proven track record of optimizing complex queries, indexing strategies, and caching mechanisms.
  • Architecture: Ability to assist in the design of scalable and efficient database schemas.
  • Monitoring: Experience in establishing database monitoring tools and processes.
  • Automation: Experience in automation and infrastructure scripting using Python, Bash, or Terraform.
  • Data Pipeline: Experience supporting or working with data pipeline architectures.
  • DevOps Collaboration: Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
