Main purpose of job:

  • Directly responsible for the safe delivery of the operational works within Tradebe's nuclear/radioactive Facility.
  • To plan and deliver the work on time and to budget.
  • Maintain & develop the compliance practices from an operational, compliance, and H&S perspective.
  • Manage the Operational team, keeping them SQEP and on target with their goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for safe and profitable delivery of all operational works (and where appropriate internal investment funded projects) on the Winfrith site whilst remaining compliant with all relevant legislation and internal procedures.
  • Support the development and costing of new works and opportunities as required by the Tradebe Inutec Sales and Commercial Team.
  • Responsible for planning all operational works to ensure the most efficient and safe working practices to maximize profitability.
  • Report emerging project variance, particularly those with potential adverse economic impact, and assist in taking appropriate mitigating action.
  • Ensure all programmed operations are delivered to achieve monthly forecasts against budget and time constraints.
  • Manage and develop the staff under your direct control to ensure they are Suitably Qualified and Experienced to fulfill their duties.
  • Ensure all staff under direct control are trained, briefed, and deemed competent to carry out their work.
  • Maintain sufficient resources to allow the Operations Group to operate effectively.
  • Set and monitor key objectives for direct reports and their performance on an ongoing basis in line with PDR requirements.
  • Ensure radiological safety is maintained.
  • Support the development of new processes and the trialing of non-standard wastes.
  • Maintain all relevant staff, work, and safety records and ensure adherence to systems and procedures is enforced and recorded.
  • Work with the site management team to develop new methodologies and approaches to delivery in the operational functions at the site.

The successful applicant will be highly competent in delivering radioactive waste management operations with the ability to lead a large team. They will demonstrate competency in commitment, flexibility, and pragmatism, with skills in teamwork and people development.

  • Member of ILM.
  • Passed SSSTS, CITB H&S Test.
