Main purpose of job: To carry out site maintenance tasks at Gwent, Bridgend and Hereford Waste Management Centres. To maintain these plants in a safe and compliant operational state and to proactively improve the maintenance records and operational efficiencies at these sites whilst maintaining the highest health & safety standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- To carry out mechanical maintenance tasks at Gwent, Bridgend and Hereford sites as necessary.
- To use the Planned Preventative Maintenance System to schedule and record all maintenance work on each site.
- To proactively plan future maintenance tasks to maintain the smooth running of the plants.
- To travel to Bridgend and Hereford sites when required to carry out maintenance tasks.
- To manage the Electrical Maintenance Engineer, including his workload, timekeeping, holidays and training needs.
- To continually strive towards the highest health & safety goals.
- To control maintenance costs, including labour costs.
- To select and control contractors to site when required, ensuring that company procedures regarding the health & safety of contractors are followed and maintained.
- Operation of Tradebe Permit to Work system.
- To assist in reviewing and developing maintenance techniques and procedures and plant & transfer station processing capabilities.
- To ensure that maintenance activities are maximised and carried out efficiently.
- To provide the same for Bridgend and Hereford sites, standardising procedures, capabilities and equipment across sites where applicable.
- To perform all other reasonable duties and tasks as requested.
Essential Skills:
- Mechanical maintenance skills & qualifications
- Current regulations: PUWER, LOLER, Pressure Systems, Working at height, Confined Space Working etc
- Working knowledge of electrical maintenance
- Basic computer skills
- Welding

- Health & Safety knowledge
- Pressure jetting
- PPE regulations
