What will you do? Make an impact! This role is primarily focused on goods-in operations, forklift truck operation, hazardous material handling, and site safety compliance. Working outside, in all weathers, using Forklift trucks to load/off-load 205ltr drums, pallets, and IBCs to/from trailers. Opening and checking drums, pallets, and IBC contents are as described on transport documentation and taking samples for on-site analysis in liaison with the Goods Inwards Chemists. Processing materials through use of FLT and site skips. Investigating non-conformances and alerting relevant site personnel. Segregating inputs by hazard category and moving by fork lift truck to correct storage. Assisting the Goods Inwards, Technical teams, and site operations teams with any reasonable requests. Liaising regularly with site personnel to update on vehicle status. Providing information to other departments to ensure the smooth running of the Goods Inward systems. Ensuring the organisation and compliance of the site drum compounds. Ensuring that a high standard of health and safety is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with operations teams and management, ensuring accurate information transfer, particularly during shift handovers through the shift changeover logbook.
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials, coordinate appropriate corrective actions, and notify relevant personnel of any issues.
  • Promote and maintain high health and safety standards through personal compliance and by providing guidance to colleagues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process, safety, and operational enhancements to supervisors and management.
  • Monitor equipment condition and promptly report faults, breakdowns, or repair delays to minimise operational disruption.
  • Ensure material samples are taken and delivered promptly to support analysis and reduce the risk of vehicle demurrage charges.
  • Inspect incoming drums and pallets to verify they are safe for storage, ensuring only compliant materials are accepted onto site.
  • Organise and place accepted materials in the correct storage locations, ensuring appropriate batching and segregation procedures are followed.
  • Support the smooth and efficient operation of the department by undertaking additional duties as reasonably required by management.

Do you have what it takes?

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent time management, reporting, and communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to and understanding of environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
  • FLT Experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • An understanding of IT systems particularly Microsoft operations Word and Excel.
  • An understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and an ability to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation.
