This is a key leadership role responsible for driving the safe, efficient and compliant operation of our transfer station. You will lead day‑to‑day site activity, support continuous improvement and ensure operational targets, financial controls and quality standards are consistently achieved. Working closely with site and divisional leaders, you will help shape local processes that support wider business strategy and deliver excellent performance.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead by example on Health & Safety, ensuring the company's PROUD values are visible across all site activities.
- Manage daily transfer station operations, including Supervisors, Operatives and Chemists, to ensure safe, compliant and efficient performance.
- Ensure all activities meet company standards, including ISO, BMS and IMS requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the General Manager, Divisional Director and commercial teams to deliver operational objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement across site operations, efficiency, reporting, documentation and performance controls.
- Support budget and forecast reviews by monitoring performance, identifying opportunities and implementing improvement actions.
Do you have what it takes?
Essential skills:
- Solid experience in waste, transfer station, plant, process or similar operational environments.
- Strong operational leadership experience, including managing site‑based teams.
- Relevant operational, technical or safety qualification, such as WAMITAB COTC, IOSH, NEBOSH, ADR, DGSA or HNC‑level qualification in a chemistry‑related subject.
- Good understanding of operational performance, process improvement and efficiency.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of cost control.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong communicator, able to build relationships across all levels.
- Analytical, proactive and comfortable making sound decisions.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge or hands‑on experience of SAP.
- Experience within a regulated, compliance‑led or ISO‑accredited environment.
- Experience supporting budget, forecast or operational performance reviews.
- Ability to link site operations with wider business priorities.
