Job Description:
We are seeking a Negotiations Officer to join our A&E/BBC teams in the Bectu sector of Prospect. The focus will be on the A&E and BBC sectors. Responsibilities include managing individual casework, supporting members and branches, and ensuring successful outcomes through representation. The role also involves building and maintaining effective branch relationships and structures. The ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of issue-based organising, collective labour law, contemporary industrial relations, and a passion for trade union work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent individuals and collectives, including triage and casework.
- Conduct collective negotiations.
- Develop branch capabilities for organisation and recruitment, and work on specific issues-based and general recruitment campaigns.
- Deliver training programmes for representatives.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence.
- Good knowledge of employment law, with a relevant qualification or demonstrable experience.
- Experience demonstrating leadership and ownership in challenging situations.
- Experience in developing branch capabilities, running campaigns, and supporting members.
- Strong planning, organising, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Background in the trade union movement.
- Knowledge of pensions and health and safety.
- Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools like MS Teams/MS Project.
- Project management experience.
- Valid UK driving licence.
