Trade Recruitment are currently recruiting skilled Solar Electricians to join our team.
Start date: Immediate start available for the right person
Working hours: 7:30am - 4pm with 30 minutes lunch break, 8 hours paid per day as standard. Overtime and weekend work is available at an overtime rate.
Location: Will be covering Surrey, London and South East areas.
Details: This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting photovoltaic (PV) solar power systems on commercial and industrial sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive electrical experience, including working on construction sites, reading blueprints and schematics, and adhering to safety standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC). Applicants will need to have a valid CSCS/ECS card and full PPE. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Install solar PV systems by wiring panels, inverters, and electrical components according to blueprints and schematics.
- Conduct electrical inspections on low voltage and high voltage circuits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Use hand tools, power tools, ammeters, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot system issues.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and construction blueprints for accurate system assembly.
- Perform system commissioning, testing, and calibration to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate framing carpentry work and electrical installations on-site.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including wiring diagrams and inspection reports.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including proper handling of high voltage systems and use of personal protective equipment.
- Assist in training or mentoring junior electricians or apprentices when required.
- Support ongoing maintenance activities to maximize system efficiency and longevity.
Experience:
- Proven experience on industrial or commercial electrical systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in low voltage and high voltage electrical installations.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, schematics reading, blueprint interpretation, and electrical testing devices such as ammeters and ohmmeters.
- Familiarity with NEC standards related to solar PV systems and general electrical safety practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately and translate them into practical installation steps.
- Knowledge of solar-specific components such as inverters, racking systems, wiring methods, and grounding techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting electrical issues.
