Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor in the Cambridgeshire area.\\n\\nThe successful candidate will be joining a growing civils and groundworks team. You will play a key role in pricing works, managing commercial risk, and supporting the delivery of profitable projects.\\n\\nThis role suits a commercially aware individual with strong knowledge of civils and groundworks from a subcontractor perspective, capable of working independently while supporting senior management.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\nEstimating\\n\\n * Prepare accurate and competitive tenders for civils and groundworks packages\\n\\n * Undertake take-offs from drawings and specifications\\n\\n * Assess risk, opportunities, and value engineering options\\n\\n * Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations\\n\\nCommercial Management\\n\\n * Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment\\n\\n * Manage variations, including identification, pricing, and negotiation\\n\\n * Assist with cost control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle\\n\\n * Support cash flow forecasting and commercial planning\\n\\nData & Systems\\n\\n * Build, maintain, and develop an estimating and cost database\\n\\n * Carry out cross-analysis of historical project data to improve future tenders\\n\\n * Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating procedures\\n\\nGeneral\\n\\n * Work closely with project teams, directors, and clients\\n\\n * Ensure commercial compliance with contracts and company procedures\\n\\n * Manage multiple tenders while meeting strict deadlines\\n\\nKey Skills & Experience\\n\\nEssential\\n\\n * Strong knowledge of civils and groundworks (subcontractor experience preferred)\\n\\n * Proven experience in estimating and quantity surveying\\n\\n * Excellent time management and organisational skills\\n\\n * Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness\\n\\n * Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications\\n\\n * Confident communication and negotiation skills\\n\\nDesirable\\n\\n * Experience with NEC or JCT contracts\\n\\n * Familiarity with UK construction procurement processes\\n\\n * Experience in cost reporting and forecasting\\n\\nSenior QS / Progression\\n\\nThis role offers progression to Senior Quantity Surveyor, with career development as far as you would like to go, based on performance and ambition.\\n\\nSalary & Benefits\\n\\n * Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience\\n\\n * Career progression opportunities\\n\\n * Supportive and growing company environment\\n\\nFor more information please call Peter from TRADE RECRUITMENT on (phone number removed) or email CV to address provided
