The Senior Product Owner is a critical leadership role and key customer and product advocate in the Motors Product Engineering squads. By taking strong ownership of the outcome, they will ensure teams are working on the right thing, leading key trade‑off decisions based on value and impact and are accountable for delivering the outcomes and shifting the metrics we care about most. To achieve this, they will work closely with teams to prioritise and refine the roadmap and backlog, identify and manage dependencies and maintain the robust health, resilience and stability of our systems.

What you can expect from this role:

  • Drive Strategic Outcomes: Partner with Product Managers and squad leadership to define OKRs, balancing product and engineering work to deliver on short‑term roadmaps.
  • The Ultimate Bridge: Act as the central point of contact between business stakeholders and engineering squads, maximizing product value while mitigating delivery risks.
  • Big‑Picture Focus: Maintain a holistic view of business goals, ensuring the squad's work aligns with strategy and remaining agile enough to pivot as market conditions change.
  • End-to-End Backlog Accountability: Own the creation, refinement, sequencing, and prioritisation of the product backlog to ensure rapid, incremental value for customers.
  • Value vs. Feasibility: Strike the critical balance between product value, business viability, technical feasibility, and user experience.
  • Voice of the Customer: Build a deep understanding of the customer experience, fiercely advocating for their needs in all prioritisation and lifecycle decisions.
  • Data‑Driven Decisions: Consult with Product and Data Analysts to establish short feedback loops, defining and measuring success metrics to optimise product performance.
  • High‑Visibility Communication: Maintain absolute transparency on priorities, risks, and trade‑offs for senior leaders and sponsors using roadmapping tools (e.g., Jira Advanced Roadmaps).

What you will bring to our team:

  • 5+ Years of Product Leadership: Proven experience leading Product Engineering teams to deliver high‑impact outcomes, with a solid grasp of web and mobile technologies.
  • AI‑Forward Mindset: Hands‑on experience experimenting with AI tools and a natural curiosity to weave them into your everyday product workflow to drive efficiency.
  • Agile & Roadmap Expertise: A track record of developing flexible, value‑driven product roadmaps, taking full ownership of outcomes, and navigating agile environments.
  • Data & Metric Driven: Experienced in using outcome‑based metrics to measure the impact of change and prove business value.
  • Modern Tool Mastery: Confident using collaborative tools (e.g., Jira, Miro, LucidChart) to clarify work scope, sizing, trade‑offs, and dependencies.
  • Practice Uplift & Mentorship: Ability to mentor others in product ownership tools, identifying gaps in current practices to recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Advanced Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical, technical, and creative reasoning skills, backed by an extensive toolkit of problem‑solving techniques.
  • Outstanding Stakeholder Communicator: An elite communicator who can simplify complex ideas, listen deeply, and confidently engage with stakeholders, customers, and consumers alike.
