This is a high-impact membership role focused on driving recruitment, engagement and retention within a respected membership organisation. The successful candidate will take ownership of the full membership lifecycle—from identifying new member opportunities and converting leads through to onboarding, engagement and renewal. Working closely with senior leadership, this role sits at the centre of the organisation’s growth strategy, ensuring membership continues to deliver meaningful value to companies operating across the education supply industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive membership recruitment from initial enquiry through to closing and onboarding
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective members
  • Deliver targeted membership growth and retention campaigns
  • Manage the member lifecycle, ensuring a positive and engaging member journey
  • Monitor and report on membership KPIs and performance metrics
  • Identify members at risk of non-renewal and implement retention strategies
  • Lead the annual membership renewal process
  • Represent the organisation at industry events and networking opportunities
  • Champion the use of CRM systems and membership data to support decision making
  • Produce monthly and quarterly membership reports for senior leadership
  • Support delivery of member engagement initiatives and surveys
  • Line manage a Membership Coordinator

About You

This role would suit a commercially minded membership professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities and delivering measurable growth.

Requirements

  • A proven track record of delivering membership growth within a membership organisation, trade association or similar environment
  • Experience recruiting and retaining members where membership is discretionary rather than mandatory demonstrating the ability to clearly articulate value and convert prospects into engaged members
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline and reporting against targets
  • Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and groups
  • A proactive and externally focused approach to business development and networking
  • Experience using CRM systems and membership data
  • Strong organisational, communication and reporting skills
  • Experience or knowledge of the education sector would be advantageous, particularly an understanding of organisations operating across: Primary education, Secondary education, Further education, Higher education, Schools and the wider education supply chain.
