We are now seeking a Senior/ Principal Public Health Engineer to be based out of one of our UK offices (London, Newcastle or Bicester).
Role Responsibilities- Liaising and supporting Associate Public Health Engineer on various project deliveries across multiple sectors
- Confidence to raise and discuss ambiguous issues
- To provide accurate public health system designs across a range of business sectors and conduct risk analysis on same.
- To efficiently and effectively interface with clients, and suppliers
- Designing public health systems for:
- Above ground drainage systems
- Below ground drainage systems
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
- Effluent treatment principles
- Pollution control rainwater harvesting and attenuation systems
- Cold water systems
- Hot water systems
- Fire engineering – Well rounded knowledge of fire systems including conventional sprinkler systems, wet and dry riser installations, fire hydrants and gas suppression systems
- MSc/BEng Qualified or have sufficient equivalent experience in the field of Public Health design
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience with strong expertise in Public Health Engineering (water services, gas, above ground drainage and sanitation systems, rainwater disposal system design and fire suppression installations)
- Knowledge and experience of sustainable design including solar hot water systems, rainwater/grey water recycling innovations
- Experience across mission critical/ data centre (highly desirable), commercial and mixed-use developments
- Proven track record, working for large international consulting organisation within the UK or overseas, on major design projects
- Working knowledge of core technical guidance published by CIBSE, British Standards, ISO, BSRIA, HSE and CIPHE
- Competence in fire protection design is essential and experience with international standards such as EN, VdS, NFPA and FM highly desirable
- Good knowledge of current standards and design codes essential
- Good working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, NAVIS
- Advantageous to have a good knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT but not essential
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with architects and fellow designers
- Confident to work independently as PH discipline lead driving project deliverables forward and capable of managing junior members of staff
- Highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges
- Effective organisation, attention to detail and leadership capability; ability to review and validate PH and Sprinkler technical design outputs
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Confident delivering complex projects and advising stakeholders
- Good understanding of British and European Standards/UK Regulations/Codes
- Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy
