We are RED, an expanding international M&E consultancy with a proven track record in low energy design, focusing on excellent design solutions and zero carbon-built environments. We cover the entire life cycle of building projects to save our clients time, money and effort. Based in our Bicester office, you will be a fully experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer with a minimum of seven years’ industry experience, leading medium to large sized projects and undertaking a client‑facing role in the development, design and coordination of engineering projects.
Role Responsibilities
- Run large projects; undertake client‑facing roles in development, design and coordination of electrical installation services for various building types.
- Develop and specify controls, instruments and operating systems for all building engineering services.
- Survey, test and carry out dilapidation reports on existing installations.
- Specify activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Make day‑to‑day decisions on project progress and liaise directly with and advise the client.
- Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors.
- Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
- Lead coordination of engineering services.
- Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.
Role Requirements
- BSc/BEng or equivalent engineering degree.
- MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus relevant experience, or equivalent.
- Working towards Chartered Eng status.
- Significant experience of specification design for several building types.
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to use IT‑based calculation and spreadsheet software.
- Good understanding of BS standards, UK regulations and codes.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Managerial and presentation skills.
- Support delivery of projects in accordance with RED Project Delivery Process from the perspectives of Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review.
- Background in consulting or construction preferred.
- Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
- Act in an ethical manner following the group’s Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines.
