The UK is a strategic market for Tractebel, and the Business Development Director will drive growth in the Gas, Energy and Nuclear sectors.
Your Mission
- The Business Development Director will define, advise on and execute strategies to engage clients, prospects, partners and key stakeholders across the UK sectors, collaborating closely with senior stakeholders to drive sustainable growth.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Monitor market developments and analyse competitive landscapes within the UK Gas, Energy and Nuclear sectors.
- Identify opportunities, risks and emerging trends, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
- Provide accurate, up‑to‑date market intelligence and datasets to Business Area and Country Management for strategic decision‑making.
- Proactively identify, prioritise and pursue high‑value business opportunities aligned with Tractebel’s strategic objectives.
Account & Business Development Planning
- Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with clients, partners and industry stakeholders.
- Develop and execute account plans for key clients in collaboration with Business Streams and Key Account Managers.
- Map stakeholder relationships within client organisations and identify engagement opportunities across multiple decision‑making levels.
- Define and implement growth strategies to strengthen Tractebel’s market position.
- Work closely with business streams, project teams, sales and Métiers to ensure successful execution of business development initiatives.
- Strengthen business acumen within engineering teams by coaching them for value‑driven client engagements.
- Organise and facilitate strategic workshops and high‑level client discussions.
- Leverage and expand Tractebel’s national and international network to establish strategic partnerships and alliances.
End‑to‑End Development of Major Opportunities
- Lead the development and management of opportunity plans for major and complex projects.
- Present opportunity strategies to executive management and operational leadership for decision‑making.
- Take ownership of large, high‑impact projects (“Cathedral” opportunities) covering the full lifecycle, from early prospection to contract award.
- Ensure a comprehensive risk‑based approach covering financial, commercial, environmental, safety, reputation and technical aspects.
- Prepare and deliver clear, compelling strategic messages for executive‑level audiences.
- Contribute to the preparation of commercial offers, technical positioning and budget definition for major projects.
- Drive innovation by promoting integrated technological solutions that anticipate client needs and adapt to evolving market and technology trends.
Brand Visibility & Representation
- Manage the business development budget for the United Kingdom.
- Strengthen Tractebel’s market visibility, thought leadership and brand reputation in the United Kingdom.
- Act as a key Tractebel representative within sectoral and professional associations (e.g. NIA, NI, WNA).
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering (MSc) or Industrial Sciences.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within the energy and/or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated track record in business development, client relationship management and complex opportunity development within Gas, Energy and/or Nuclear markets.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand client needs and translate them into compelling value propositions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of synthesising complex topics and engaging C‑level and executive stakeholders.
- Proven capability to formulate strategic recommendations for senior business leadership and executive committees.
- High level of autonomy, resilience and organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and structured sales capabilities.
- Solid experience in market analysis, strategic planning and CRM/business management tools.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset, able to operate effectively within a multicultural and international environment.
- Fluent English (written and spoken); French is a bonus.
