Position Overview

The Senior GIS Developer, Europe will play a strategic role in shaping the geospatial capabilities of our land, power, and infrastructure investments across Europe, in support of future AI data center campus development. This position requires a forward-thinking developer, a thought leader who can develop and implement GIS-driven insights and solutions that support large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams in Europe and the United States to enhance site selection, investment analysis, and operational efficiency through geospatial data, and this will also require select developmental skills. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of spatial data, from acquisition to analysis and visualization. The successful candidate will drive GIS infrastructure development, ensuring that geospatial intelligence is seamlessly integrated into our investment strategy. With a strong focus on innovation, they will leverage cutting-edge mapping technologies and analytical tools to inform decision-making and maximize investment potential. The individual will be fully responsible for developing and deploying automations and applications to be consumed by the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic GIS Development & Data Integration
• • Lead the design and implementation of GIS solutions to support land acquisition, power infrastructure planning, and AI data center development.
  • Identify and integrate spatial data sources to enhance market analysis and investment insights.
  • Develop processes to ensure accurate, up-to-date geographic data for strategic decision-making.
  • Leverage GIS to assess risks, opportunities, and environmental considerations across multiple locations.
• Data Management & Technology Implementation
• • Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of geospatial data, ensuring its reliability and accessibility.
  • Develop streamlined workflow automations for processing and visualizing geographic information to support investment evaluations.
  • Implement cloud-based GIS solutions that allow real-time collaboration and data sharing across teams
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
• • Partner with land acquisition, energy, and investment teams to provide actionable insights through geospatial analysis.
  • Guide internal stakeholders on how to utilize GIS tools effectively for business growth and operational improvements.
  • Stay ahead of emerging geospatial technologies and best practices to drive continuous innovation in the field.

Required Skills & Expertise

• Expertise in analyzing geospatial data to inform business and investment decisions.
• Ability to translate complex geographic information into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Strong experience in designing and implementing GIS strategies for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience developing and hosting full scale web-based GIS applications using typical CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical hands-on experience customizing and hosting the developer editions of both Web AppBuilder and Experience Builder (other react and typescript experience accepted, if well demonstrated)
• Deep experience in the following technology stack:

  • • ArcGIS ecosystem (Pro/Online/Enterprise)
    • Frontend development (React/TypeScript/Tailwind)
    • Experience Builder / Web AppBuilder (Developer Editions)
    • Git and GitHub Actions
    • Spatial ETL (geopandas / pandas / PostGIS / ArcGIS API for Python)
    • Database experience (PostGIS/PostgreSQL)
  • Strongly Preferred:
  • • Google Firebase
    • Docker
    • Cloud platform experience (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable)
    • API development experience (Google Cloud Run, AWS/Azure acceptable)
    • QGIS

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with land use policies, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory requirements in Europe.
• Understanding of how geospatial insights drive value in energy, infrastructure, and AI-driven developments.
• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to align GIS initiatives with corporate strategy.
