  • Shift Manager - Site Operations (Ireland)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and people-focused Shift Manager to lead our Site Operations team in Ireland.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day management, development and performance of our Technician teams to ensure operational excellence, quality service delivery, and a strong safety culture.

The successful candidate will oversee technician scheduling, training, and performance while ensuring surveys and operational activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

They will also be responsible for supporting stores operations, ensuring that equipment, assets and fleet resources are available to meet operational requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines people management, operational planning, health and safety oversight, and continuous improvement.

The role will involve travel to operational sites across Ireland and occasional out-of-hours support.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach and support Technicians and Stores personnel.
  • Create an inclusive, positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Manage performance, attendance, development and wellbeing across the team.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and development discussions.
  • Support recruitment activities, including interviews and onboarding.
  • Promote a culture of continuous feedback, learning and improvement.
  • Deliver regular team briefings, toolbox talks and operational updates.
  • Operational Management
  • Oversee technician resource planning and scheduling to meet customer and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor technician availability, competencies and utilisation.
  • Manage annual leave requests, overtime and working hours in line with business requirements.
  • Provide operational support and cover for scheduling activities during peak periods or absences.
  • Act as the escalation point for technician queries and operational issues.
  • Training, Quality & Safety
  • Ensure all technicians receive appropriate training and maintain required competencies.
  • Develop, review and maintain training materials, procedures and records.
  • Conduct site audits and inspections, ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
  • Work closely with Health & Safety teams to maintain compliance and promote best practice.
  • Monitor quality standards across operational activities and implement improvements where required.
  • Support investigations, reviews and corrective actions relating to safety and quality issues.
  • Stores & Equipment Management
  • Oversee stores operations and equipment distribution processes.
  • Ensure equipment, PPE and assets are available and supplied to support planned work activities.
  • Identify potential shortages and implement solutions proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with company processes relating to equipment, asset management and fleet operations.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of operational processes, systems and procedures.
  • Support project teams with operational expertise, site reviews and resource planning input.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Operations, Health & Safety, HR, Projects and Commercial teams to drive business performance.

  • Previous line management and people leadership experience.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience managing performance, training and development activities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Confidence making decisions, solving problems and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Experience working within highways, transportation, logistics, utilities, infrastructure or other operational environments.
  • Knowledge of warehouse, stores, fleet or equipment management processes would be beneficial.

Essential Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.
  • Experience managing remote or geographically dispersed teams.
  • LANTRA 12D M1 or SLG Unit 0 (Safe Pass) certification.
  • Full valid driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel to operational sites across Ireland and occasionally the UK.

Desirable Requirements

  • Working at Height certification.
  • Ladder Inspection certification.
  • Management or leadership qualification.
  • Experience within a surveying, transportation, highways or infrastructure environment.
