As a growing company with people at the centre of our business, payroll is a crucial function.
We are looking for a detail-focused and proactive Payroll Officer to join us and take ownership of delivering an accurate, timely and trusted payroll service for our employees and workers.
This role is ideal for someone with strong payroll experience who is ready to step up into broader responsibility.
You will manage end-to-end payroll activity across fortnightly and monthly payrolls, act as a key point of contact for payroll queries and have the opportunity to develop the payroll function as the business continues to grow.
This is a hybrid role, with a portion of time in the Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire office so you must be able to travel.
- What you’ll be doing
- Completing end-to-end payroll processing for fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
- Calculating salaries, bonuses, commissions, deductions and statutory payments accurately.
- Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes in line with internal policies.
- Reconciling payroll before processing and ensuring payments are made on time.
- Submitting Real Time Information reporting to HMRC accurately and within deadlines.
- Managing payroll queries from employees, workers and managers in a clear and supportive way.
- Maintaining accurate payroll data and supporting reporting for Finance and leadership teams.
- Supporting audits, compliance checks, system updates and process improvement projects.
- What we’re looking for
- Proven experience working within a payroll function.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and statutory payments.
- Experience using payroll systems preferably Sage.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
- A CIPP qualification, experience managing multiple payrolls, pensions auto-enrolment knowledge or payroll project experience would be advantageous.
