About Track Academy

Track Academy is a Brent-based youth development charity combining athletics, education and mentoring to help young people overcome barriers, build confidence and fulfil their potential.

We believe athletics provides a foundation for both sporting and personal development, helping young people build confidence, resilience, discipline and positive life skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and passionate Multi-Skills Athletics Coach to join our coaching team and support the development of children and young people.

About the Role

Our Multi-Skills programme introduces young people to the fundamental skills of athletics through three core event groups:

  • Run: Developing running technique, speed, acceleration, endurance, rhythm and coordination.
  • Jump: Developing jumping technique, balance, take-off mechanics, body control and safe landing skills.
  • Throw: Developing throwing technique, coordination, movement patterns and foundational strength.

The programme focuses on building physical literacy, fundamental movement skills and confidence through structured, engaging and age-appropriate athletics activities.

We aim to create a positive first experience of athletics while providing young people with the foundations to progress into more specialised athletics disciplines as they develop.

We are looking for a coach who understands the importance of long-term athlete development and can balance enjoyment, learning and technical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging and age-appropriate Multi-Skills athletics sessions.
  • Introduce and develop fundamental skills across running, jumping and throwing events.
  • Develop coordination, balance, agility, speed, rhythm and general movement competency.

  • Adapt coaching activities to accommodate different ages, abilities, confidence levels and additional needs.
  • Teach and reinforce appropriate movement techniques through effective demonstrations and constructive feedback.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Support young people's confidence, teamwork, communication, resilience and personal development.
  • Monitor participant progress and contribute to Track Academy's athlete development framework.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, participation and enjoyment of athletics.
  • Assist with session preparation, equipment management and attendance recording.
  • Work collaboratively with other coaches and the wider Track Academy team.

  • Ability to introduce and develop basic running, jumping and throwing skills.
  • Strong communication, organisation and group-management skills.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and adapt coaching activities for different ages and abilities.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and inclusive coaching approach.
  • Reliability, professionalism and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • Experience monitoring children's physical and athletic development.

Candidates with relevant coaching experience who are currently working towards formal qualifications are encouraged to apply.
