Purchase Ledger Assistant
Location: West London
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Β£30,000-Β£32,000
A renowned arts organisation is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Assistant to join its Finance team.
This is a great opportunity to join a busy finance function, supporting the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations through accurate invoice processing, supplier payments and reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process purchase ledger invoices, ensuring they are accurately coded, matched to purchase orders and appropriately authorised.
- Manage weekly payment runs and ensure suppliers are paid on time.
- Reconcile supplier statements and respond to invoice and payment queries from suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Process employee expenses and other payment requests, including BACS, CHAPS and international transfers.
- Carry out month-end analysis of purchase ledger balances, including aged creditor reporting.
- Prepare monthly reports on payment days and late invoice payments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including purchase ledger, petty cash and other control accounts.
- Ensure all payments comply with internal authorisation procedures.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a purchase ledger role within a busy finance team is essential.
- A good understanding of debits, credits and reconciliations.
- Experience creating and reviewing payment runs.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills and a thorough approach to ensuring invoices and purchase orders are correctly matched and coded.
- Good IT skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to navigate finance systems and extract information.
- A strong team player with a professional approach, good communication skills and a genuine interest in developing broader accounting skills.
