A growing international professional services business is seeking an Interim Senior Commercial Finance Analyst to support its Finance Director during a period of significant corporate activity and continued business growth. Operating across the UK and North America, the business has an established client base and is currently engaged in a strategic transaction process. This role will provide analytical and commercial finance support across both ongoing financial planning and analysis activities and transaction-related workstreams. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Director and Finance Manager, providing hands-on support across management reporting, forecasting, commercial analysis and due diligence preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction & Due Diligence Support
    • Support the build, maintenance and organisation of the transaction data room
    • Prepare financial analysis and supporting schedules for external stakeholders
    • Assist with revenue, margin, profitability and working capital analysis
    • Support management forecast preparation and related documentation
    • Track and manage information requests, coordinating responses across the business
    • Maintain accurate records and audit trails throughout the transaction process
    • Prepare materials for management meetings and Q&A sessions
  • Management Reporting & Business Performance
    • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs
    • Deliver meaningful variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior year performance
    • Produce commentary and insights for senior leadership
    • Develop and maintain KPI reporting and performance dashboards
    • Contribute analytical content for board and executive reporting
  • Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Support annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes
    • Maintain rolling forecasts across P&L and cash flow
    • Develop scenario planning and sensitivity analysis models
    • Assist with financial planning across multiple entities
  • Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
    • Conduct client, project and service-line profitability analysis
    • Analyse utilisation, capacity and margin performance
    • Support revenue recognition, work-in-progress and project performance reporting
    • Assist with pricing reviews and commercial proposal modelling
    • Provide financial insight to operational and client-facing teams
    • Deliver ad hoc analysis and decision-support for senior stakeholders

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Newly qualified through to approximately 2 years' post-qualified experience
  • Strong FP&A background including management reporting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Experience building budgets, forecasts and scenario models
  • Exposure to transactions, due diligence, data rooms or related corporate finance activities
  • Comfortable operating within a confidential and fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Organised, reliable and able to take ownership of deliverables

Desirable Experience

  • Professional services or agency sector experience
  • Healthcare, life sciences or regulated industry exposure
  • Multi-entity and international finance experience
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems
  • Familiarity with project accounting, resource planning or billing platforms
