Overview
In this role you support the Financial Controller to manage UK income processing, financial controls, reporting, and donor relations within an international development charity. You will handle donation processing from diverse sources, maintain Gift Aid compliance, and produce monthly income reporting while ensuring efficient financial administration. The role combines hands-on accounting in a small team with multi-currency considerations and a focus on donor stewardship. You’ll contribute to accurate financial processing and controls that underpin the organisation’s fundraising impact.
Responsibilities
- Process donations from multiple sources (direct, website, fundraising platforms, legacy, cheque/cash) and update bank records
- Prepare periodic statements for fundraising campaigns for donors
- Manage donations inbox, respond to donor queries, and issue timely donation acknowledgements
- Ensure Gift Aid declarations are current and compliant
- Perform bank reconciliations and consolidate funds for other agencies monthly
- Produce monthly income reports for designated agencies
- Provide cover for Expenditure tasks owned by the Finance Officer
Key requirements
- Minimum of three years hands-on experience in financial accounting
- Advanced experience with Excel and integrated multi-ledger accounting systems
- Experience working in a multi-currency environment (desirable)
- Experience in charity accounting and related requirements
- Experience working in a small hands-on team
