Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting decision-making across the charity by delivering high-quality financial insights, managing reporting cycles, and strengthening budgetary processes.

  • Produce timely and accurate management reports using Unit 4 and other financial tools.
  • Partner with non-finance teams to build financial understanding and confidence.
  • Monitor financial performance across programmes and advise on variances.
  • Support funding applications with costings and financial input.
  • Provide data for funders, government bodies, and external audits.
  • Contribute to longer-term financial planning and strategic modelling.
  • Carry out ad hoc financial analysis and develop business cases for new research initiatives.
  • Ensure the finance system is used effectively to support accurate decision-making.

A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) is required, along with solid experience in a management accounting role – charity or research environment a plus. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a confident approach to explaining finance to non-finance teams. Strong Excel skills and a detail-oriented approach are also necessary, as well as experience using Unit 4 or similar financial systems.
