A well-established, not-for-profit engineering training organisation, rated Ofsted “Outstanding”, is looking to appoint an Engineering Trainer / CAD Specialist to support the continued success of its Engineering Apprenticeship programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional with strong technical skills — particularly in CAD — who is keen to pass on their knowledge to the next generation of engineers. Candidates with some workplace training, mentoring, or coaching experience are welcomed, and full support into teaching qualifications will be provided where required.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality apprenticeship training, with a primary focus on CAD, alongside either manufacturing or automation disciplines. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering CAD training using Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Inventor and/or Fusion 360)
- Contributing to a well-sequenced curriculum plan for engineering apprenticeship programmes
- Ensuring delivery is appropriate to the learner group and aligned to qualification requirements
- Motivating and supporting learners to achieve their full potential
- Providing timely, constructive feedback both during delivery sessions and through written or verbal assessment
- Supporting apprentices’ technical development in line with workplace and industry standards
- Engaging in ongoing CPD to continually develop training and delivery skills
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Background in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong CAD capability (AutoCAD, Inventor and/or Fusion 360)
- Experience in manufacturing (milling, turning, lathes, CNC) or automation
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to learners
- Confidence working with people of all ages and abilities
- Enthusiasm for developing apprentices and sharing industry knowledge
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Experience delivering training, mentoring, or workplace coaching
- Teaching, assessing or training qualifications
- Experience working with apprentices or adult learners
