An FE College in the Newcastle area is looking to appoint an Aircraft Maintenance Lecturer (Avionics) to join its Aviation provision from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aviation maintenance professional from either a commercial or military background to move into teaching and training, or for an existing lecturer with relevant industry experience looking for a new opportunity.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and practical instruction across Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionics) programmes, supporting learners in developing the technical knowledge and practical skills required for careers within the aviation sector. The college is particularly interested in candidates with strong hands-on avionics and aircraft electrical systems maintenance experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver practical and theory-based Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics) sessions
  • Support and assess learners across FE and Higher Education programmes
  • Prepare learners for progression into the aviation industry
  • Contribute to programme development, planning and administration
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance within workshop environments
Requirements:
  • Strong industry experience within aircraft maintenance engineering (Avionics)
  • Background in commercial or military aviation maintenance
  • Experience working within a Part-145 or Part-147 environment is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of avionics diagnostics, fault finding, system testing and installation
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of the CAA Part-66 licensing framework
  • Previous teaching, coaching or mentoring experience
  • Teaching qualification (support can be provided if not already held)
