Are you an experienced Machinist looking to step into teaching, training and developing the next generation of engineers? Our client, a highly reputable engineering training company in Gloucester, is seeking a Machining Instructor to deliver high-quality practical training in manual turning/milling and CNC machining to Level 3 engineering apprentices. No prior teaching experience is required – full training, mentoring and qualifications are provided.

About the Role

  • You will deliver hands‑on training to apprentices in the following areas:
  • Manual Turning (screw cutting, knurling, turning to fine tolerances, use of steadies)
  • Manual Milling (slots, multi‑sided shapes, dividing heads)
  • CNC machining
  • Quality checks, interpreting drawings and producing components to specification
  • You will also assess learner work, mark knowledge questions, provide constructive feedback, and ensure apprentices develop safe, accurate and industry‑ready machining skills.
  • What’s on Offer

    • Starting salary £34,000, rising to £35,000 upon completion of AET (Instructor qualification – usually 6 months)
    • Salary increases to £38,000 when AVA (Assessor qualification – typically 9‑12 months) is completed
    • Both teaching and assessing qualifications fully funded and supported in‑house
    • 36.25‑hour week: Mon‑Thu: 08:00‑16:15, Fri: 08:00‑13:15
    • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + your birthday off
    • Excellent pension scheme and ongoing professional development

    • Strong hands‑on experience in manual machining (turning and/or milling)
    • Knowledge of CNC machining (advantageous but not essential)
