Hours: 36.25 per week – Mon–Thu 08:00–16:15, Fri 08:00–13:15

Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for sharing your expertise and developing the next generation of mechanical maintenance technicians? We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance / Fluid Power Instructor to join a specialist engineering training team in Gloucester.

The Role

You will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical training in pneumatics and fluid power systems, utilising purpose-built training aids to teach learners key skills and underpinning knowledge. The role also includes teaching elements of PLC control. As this area of training is not full-time, you will also provide instruction in broader maintenance and mechanical skills, including:

  • Safe and effective use of basic hand tools
  • Precision measurement techniques using micrometers, verniers, surface finish gauges, and radius gauges
  • Assessing learner work against engineering drawings and providing constructive feedback
  • Conducting knowledge assessments and supporting learners to develop understanding and confidence

What They Are Looking For

  • Strong background in mechanical maintenance or fluid power engineering
  • Practical experience of pneumatics and associated control systems
  • Confidence in teaching, mentoring, or supervising apprentices or trainees (instructional experience desirable but not essential)
  • Proactive approach to learning and developing instructional skills

Training & Development

They will fully support you to achieve your teaching and assessment qualifications:

  • AET (Award in Education and Training) – pay rise to £35,000 on completion (typically 6 months)
  • AVA (Assessing in the Workplace) – further increase to £38,000 once complete (typically 9–12 months)
  • Both courses delivered in-house and fully funded
