Experienced Maintenance Technician required to work as a Test Rig Technician for global manufacturer based at their site in Plymouth. Reporting to the Test Rig Group Leader, the successful candidate will work closely with the Test Rig Development Technician ensuring that the test rig interfaces are adequately supported and ensure test rig condition is in line with the developed standard. Key Responsibilities: Fault diagnosis and repairs on electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. To attend courses and toolbox talks where required. Record all activities on CMMS. Ensure all work performed is in compliance with all aspects of the Health & Safety at Work legislation and the company Health & Safety policy. Prioritise workload to ensure prompt response to breakdowns and completion of PPM to schedule. Carry out and record routine oil cleanliness checks on all production test rigs to within required specification. Maintain test rig oil cleanliness filter systems to reduce cost and improve overall test rig operational efficiency. Maintain the system for verifying that test rig oil performance remains within an acceptable standard by using such measurements as TAN and water content. Organise routine calibration of all production test rig master instrumentation. Work within the 5s standards and carry out activities to ensure that the cleanliness and orderliness of the test rigs are maintained at all times. Maintain a list of critical spares for all rigs to minimise the downtime in the event of failure. Create SOPs and give training to operators where necessary. Ensure fixturing and equipment is fit for purpose and reworked/replaced where necessary. To maintain the fitting and hose life register ensuring all fittings/hoses are logged, checked and changed in accordance with the life requirements. Work to the TPM schedule. This will include hydraulic, electric and cooling water systems. Monitor the oil consumption of each test rig and record the improvements achieved through the 5s activities. Monitor and fix leaks, ensuring regular housekeeping of test booths and pumps rooms to reduce risk of slips, trips and falls. Ensure motor test specifications are loaded to test rigs in a timely manner. Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Candidate attributes required: Essential: A Mechanical Engineering qualification and / or recognised Engineering Apprenticeship. Recent experience in a similar role with exposure to mechanical engineering and experience of hydraulic systems. Working knowledge of Pumps, Motors, Hoses and Threads. IOSH Managing Safely. SAP knowledge along with some working experience of AutoCAD and good literacy of Microsoft office suite. A disciplined individual with the ability to work under own initiative or as part of a team. A willingness and flexibility to learn new skills. Preferred: Knowledge and experience of Electrical Engineering. BFPA training in Hydraulics. The successful candidate must be able to work a weekly shift rotation comprising of Monday to Friday 06:00am to 14:00pm and Monday to Friday 14:00pm to 22:00pm. If the successful candidate is required to train on day shift prior to moving to rotating shift then shift premium will not apply whilst training on day shift.
