Are you an experienced Engineereither degree-qualified or time-servedlooking to pivot into a commercially focused role? We are offering a unique opportunity to join our procurement team as a Sourcing Engineer (Technical Buyer), where your engineering expertise will be the foundation for success.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who can read and interpret engineering drawings, assess supplier capabilities, and contribute to sourcing strategies. Prior purchasing experience is not essentialwell provide full training and support to help you develop the commercial skills needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source direct components for NPIs using engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, lead times, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and commercial teams to build accurate quotations.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Support cost reduction and inventory optimisation initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Track and report on sourcing performance and savings.

What Were Looking For

Essential:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, etc.) or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach.

Desirable:

  • Experience in procurement or supply chain (not essential).
  • CIPS Level 4 or above.
  • Familiarity with metals and precision components.
  • SAP or MRP/ERP system experience.
