An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Systems Assistant to join a growing organisation with a busy, in-house payroll function.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of payroll, systems and data, and is keen to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
The Payroll Systems Assistant will support the effective operation and ongoing development of payroll and workforce management systems.
Working closely with Payroll, HR and Finance teams, you will play a key role in maintaining system performance, ensuring data accuracy and supporting system enhancements.
Key systems used include payroll and workforce management platforms, alongside Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
Key Responsibilities Support the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of payroll and workforce management systems.
Assist with system upgrades, enhancements, testing, and implementation of new functionality.
Monitor system integrations, performance, and data quality, identifying and resolving issues where necessary.
Produce and analyse payroll and workforce reports, providing insights to internal stakeholders.
Manage data imports, reconciliations, and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Provide first-line systems support, guidance, and training to payroll users.
Support payroll-related projects and process improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, data protection requirements, and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance system usage, and increase efficiency.
About You Essential Skills & Experience Previous experience in a payroll, HR systems, or similar systems-focused role.
Good understanding of payroll processes and data management principles.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and data analysis.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with large data sets.
Experience producing reports and interpreting data to support decision-making.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Professional and discreet when handling sensitive information.
Desirable Skills & Experience Experience with payroll and workforce management systems (e. g.
Zellis, UKG, or similar).
Experience working within an in-house payroll function.
Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and best practices.
Experience with data imports, integrations, and interfaces.
Exposure to system testing, upgrades, or implementation projects.
Knowledge of SQL or reporting tools.
Experience supporting process improvement or business change initiatives.
