We are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment within the medical device sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a background in regulated manufacturing to take the next step in their career.
The Role Reporting to the Production Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of production operations.
You will lead a team of Process/Manufacturing Operatives, ensuring performance targets are achieved across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People metrics.
This is a hands-on leadership role, and you will be expected to operate as a Process Operator when required.
Key Responsibilities Take daily responsibility for achieving Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People).
Promote and drive a zero-accident culture through proactive identification of safety risks.
Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
Provide daily leadership and direction to a team of Manufacturing Operators.
Maintain high-quality standards in line with Medical Device and GMP requirements.
Ensure adherence to production plans to meet customer delivery expectations (OTIF).
Monitor product compliance with customer specifications.
Lead and promote best practice in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Conduct performance checks and provide accurate operational updates.
Drive improvements in Right First Time and accurate batch record completion.
Plan labour requirements, including managing sickness and holiday cover.
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
Attend planning meetings and provide clear production updates.
Develop team capability through multi-skilling initiatives.
Coach and mentor team members using Lean leadership principles.
Support temporary labour planning where required.
Take responsibility for daily operational decisions to ensure production targets are met.
Communicate effectively across shifts using verbal, written, email and visual management tools.
Lead manufacturing activities in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
About You GCSE level education (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with prior team leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ideally within a regulated industry.
Ability to follow and communicate detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
High level of attention to detail and computer literacy.
Flexible approach to working hours to meet business needs.
Experience of Lean Manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
