Experienced Facilities Engineer required for Global Manufacturer based at their site in Plymouth. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the effective, efficient, and sustainable operation of all building facilities. Working closely with the HSE Manager, you will manage and coordinate activities to maintain full compliance with all legislative requirements, including environmental, security, and health and safety regulations. You will also support wider departmental projects as directed by the Head of Engineering, contributing technical expertise and project management skills to deliver improvements across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance & Safety: In collaboration with the HSE Manager, ensure compliance with all onsite environmental, health, safety, and security legislation. Maintain accurate records for audits and statutory inspections (e.g. fire safety, electrical systems, HVAC).
- Facilities Management: Manage all facilities to ensure optimised operations, monitored via the integrated Building Management System (BMS). Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance programmes to ensure reliability and minimise downtime. Manage contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and adherence to company standards.
- Collaboration & Business Support: Work closely with onsite teams and facility support contractors to ensure company business plans and operational objectives are met. Collaborate with the Engineering team on specific projects as required.
- Projects & Infrastructure: Manage and facilitate new builds, renovations, refurbishments, and office moves. Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements across the site.
Essential Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Candidate Attributes Required:
- HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience working within facilities engineering or building services management, ideally gained from a Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
- Experience in managing capital projects and refurbishments.
- Knowledge and understanding of EHS practices, including risk assessment and permit-to-work systems.
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, health and safety legislation, and environmental compliance.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and facilities monitoring tools.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage contractors and negotiate service agreements effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple teams.
