Purpose of the Role
To ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for staff, students, and visitors. The role may involve working across multiple sites as required. Use of a personal vehicle and a D1 driving licence would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain buildings and grounds to a high standard, ensuring they are safe, clean, and ready for use.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Support site security, including locking/unlocking, alarm setting, and occasional emergency call-outs.
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor improvement works.
- Assist with ordering materials and liaising with suppliers where required.
- Coordinate access for external contractors and monitor progress of works.
- Move and set up furniture and equipment as needed.
- Receive, handle, and distribute deliveries across the site.
- Conduct routine checks of fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, and alarms.
- Monitor heating and lighting systems to ensure efficiency.
- Maintain external areas, including litter picking and general upkeep.
- Carry out seasonal duties such as gritting and salting pathways.
- Provide support with traffic and bus management during peak times.
- Assist with the upkeep and basic management of minibuses, including occasional driving duties.
- Participate in training and development activities as required.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role to support site operations.
Maintenance Duties
- Plumbing: Basic repairs including tap washers, ball valves, and simple installations.
- Carpentry: Repairs to doors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
- Decorating: Internal and external painting and general upkeep.
- Electrical: Basic tasks such as replacing bulbs, fuses, and plug tops.
- General Building: Minor repairs including glazing, flooring, tiling, and patch plastering.
