We are looking for an experienced Technical SEO Specialist to support the growth, performance and search visibility of a portfolio of ecommerce websites. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded SEO professional to work across large-scale websites, collaborating closely with development, product, ecommerce and SEO teams. Based in London with hybrid working, you'll play an important role in improving technical website performance, supporting major migrations and replatforming projects, and ensuring SEO best practices are embedded across the digital estate.
As Technical SEO Specialist, you'll be responsible for identifying and resolving technical issues that affect crawling, indexing, rankings and organic performance. You'll work closely with development and product teams to deliver technical improvements, while supporting the ongoing optimisation of site architecture, performance, structured data and search engine accessibility. The role will also contribute to the development of Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) strategies, helping websites remain visible as search continues to evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical SEO audits across multiple websites.
- Identify, prioritise and resolve issues affecting crawling, indexing, rankings and organic performance.
- Work closely with development and product teams to deliver technical SEO improvements.
- Monitor and optimise site architecture, internal linking, redirects, canonicals, pagination and indexation.
- Support website performance improvements, including page speed and Core Web Vitals.
- Review and optimise structured data, XML sitemaps, robots directives and search engine accessibility.
- Support major website migrations, redesigns and platform launches.
- Carry out crawl analysis, log-file analysis and technical performance reviews.
- Create clear technical SEO requirements and acceptance criteria for development teams.
- Measure and report on the impact of technical SEO improvements.
- Support GEO and AEO strategies through technical optimisation and machine-readable site architecture.
- Identify opportunities to improve organic search performance through technical enhancements.
- Work collaboratively with SEO, Ecommerce, Product and Technology teams.
- Stay up to date with search engine developments, emerging technologies and SEO best practices.
About You
We're looking for someone with strong hands-on technical SEO experience and a solid understanding of how websites are built, crawled, indexed and ranked.
Essential Experience
- Strong hands-on technical SEO experience.
- Experience working on ecommerce or other large-scale websites.
- Strong understanding of crawling, indexing, website architecture and technical SEO best practices.
- Good knowledge of HTML, JavaScript rendering and modern web technologies.
- Experience using enterprise-level SEO crawling and monitoring tools.
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Search Console and SEO reporting platforms.
- Experience working closely with developers, technology teams or product teams.
- Proven experience supporting a major ecommerce website migration or replatforming project.
- Strong understanding of GEO and AEO principles and how technical SEO can influence AI-driven search visibility.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and a structured approach to prioritisation and decision-making.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Desirable Experience
- Experience conducting log-file analysis and advanced technical investigations.
- Experience supporting SEO experimentation and performance testing.
- Knowledge of structured data implementation and advanced schema strategies.
- Experience working within a multi-brand retail or ecommerce environment.
- Familiarity with emerging AI search technologies and their impact on SEO.
- A strong interest in search engine developments, digital innovation and evolving SEO practices.
