This is your opportunity to redefine digital retail at scale. An award-winning, high-growth UK retailer with over 200 stores nationwide is entering its next chapter of digital evolution. With ambitious expansion plans and a multi-brand estate serving millions of customers, we are looking for a dynamic Lead UX Designer to elevate the online experience and shape the future of how the nation shops for home and garden. If you are driven by impact, commercial performance and meaningful customer outcomes this is your platform.
The Opportunity
As Lead UX Designer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end digital experience across multiple retail brands. You will transform insight into action uncovering customer pain points, validating solutions through experimentation, and delivering production-ready UI that performs. This is not a role for passengers. It is for a design leader who thrives in pace, complexity and scale.
- Elevate the online shopping experience across a growing multi-brand portfolio
- Shape and evolve a robust multi-brand design system, raising UX maturity across the group
- Turn research, analytics and testing into commercially impactful solutions
- Deliver polished, production-ready UI, prototypes and UX artefacts
- Partner closely with product, trading, creative, research, CRO and engineering teams
- Drive experimentation and optimisation that improves conversion and performance
- Champion design craft, standards and smarter ways of working
You will influence strategy, balance customer needs with commercial objectives, and help embed a culture of insight-led design.
What You Bring
You are a confident, hands-on UX leader with 5+ years in product or UX design, ideally within e-commerce, retail or customer-facing digital products. You know how to:
- Navigate the full design lifecycle from discovery to delivery
- Translate research into sharp problem framing and actionable insight
- Build and scale design systems using component libraries and clear standards
- Deliver measurable outcomes, not just beautiful screens
- Work across multiple brands and customer cohorts
- Craft compelling narratives that influence stakeholders
Experience with native apps and strong knowledge of Material 3 or Human Interface Guidelines is advantageous. Figma and usability best practice are second nature. So is balancing customer experience with KPIs, OKRs and operational realities.
The Mindset That Wins Here
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change
- Autonomous, proactive and commercially aware
- Curious, analytical and always questioning
- Energised by collaboration and relationship-building
- Motivated by raising the bar for design craft
This role may not suit you if you prefer highly structured environments, large UX teams with rigid processes, or detailed briefs before taking action. Here, you will lead from the front.
Why Join?
- Your work will impact millions of shoppers across the UK and Ireland
- You will help define UX excellence within one of the fastest-growing retail groups
- You will shape design maturity at enterprise scale
- You will operate at the intersection of creativity, data and commercial performance
This is a rare opportunity to influence digital retail at national scale while advancing your leadership impact.
