The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls and supporting strategic financial decision-making. This role is a key link between day-to-day finance operations and senior leadership within a busy, fast-moving construction environment. This is a hands-on role in a small, close-knit team where no two days are the same. The successful candidate will need a practical mindset and a good sense of humour alongside strong technical ability. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory regulations
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies
  • Coordinate year-end preparation and act as the main point of contact for external accountants
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance against targets
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Supervise and support accounting and finance team members
  • Manage tax reporting and liaise with external tax advisors where required
  • Oversee fleet management
