We are seeking an experienced and creative Lead Photographer to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our in-house photography studio. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded photography professional to lead a talented creative team and play a key role in shaping high-quality visual content across eCommerce, marketing, social media, and advertising channels.
About the Role
As Lead Photographer, you will oversee studio operations, manage photography workflows, and ensure the delivery of consistent, engaging imagery that supports brand identity and commercial objectives. Working closely with teams across Marketing, eCommerce, Design, Product, and Commercial functions, you will plan, create, and deliver photography that showcases products effectively while meeting campaign requirements and customer expectations. This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring a balance of creative direction, operational management and practical involvement in studio production. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of visual content while supporting the development of processes, people and studio capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute professional photography shoots, including lighting design, set preparation, styling requirements, and equipment selection.
- Ensure all imagery meets brand guidelines, campaign objectives, and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with creative, marketing, and product teams to develop concepts and visual assets for campaigns, launches, and promotional activity.
- Manage studio schedules, workloads, and priorities to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Lead, support, and develop photography team members, encouraging creativity and best practice.
- Maintain studio equipment, cameras, lighting systems, and production resources to ensure efficient operation.
- Establish strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and contribute creative expertise across the wider business.
Person Specification
- Proven experience within a commercial photography environment, ideally within retail, eCommerce or product-focused industries.
- Experience leading or managing a photography studio or creative team.
- Strong understanding of commercial photography requirements across digital, marketing, and promotional channels.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong knowledge of industry trends, creative techniques, and emerging visual content practices.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
