Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate CNC milling machines and lathes to produce high‑quality components.
- Manufacture precision‑engineered components to tight tolerances from raw material through to final inspection using a variety of metals.
- Conduct detailed quality inspections of finished components, using metrology equipment to ensure the finished component conforms with engineering drawings, SOPs, CAD models, and quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process improvements, resolving production issues, and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Mentor and provide day‑to‑day technical support to apprentices and junior staff.
- Maintain excellent health and safety procedures.
Essential Experience and Candidate Attributes
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering or Machining Apprenticeship.
- Proven experience working as a CNC Machinist in a precision engineering environment working to tight tolerances.
- Experience programming, setting and operating 3‑ and 4‑axis CNC machinery.
- Experience reading engineering drawings and CAD models.
- The ability to work accurately with an excellent eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work as part of a team and under your own initiative.
- A reliable, positive and motivated attitude.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Fanuc controls and CAD/CAM software would be highly advantageous.
