Role Purpose: Design mechanical, electrical, and control system processes and equipment for closed moulding composite manufacturing. Provide technical support to client organisations and internal business development teams relating to machinery, electrical systems, automated equipment, and manufacturing processes.

Key Relationships: Management team, colleagues, external suppliers, clients and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop design concepts for equipment and processes.
  • Produce design drawings and technical specifications using appropriate software.
  • Identify and evaluate engineering solutions for equipment and process-related projects.
  • Recommend design specifications to ensure solutions meet client requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings within the MRP system, including creation of new part numbers where required.
  • Produce supporting technical documentation for designs and projects.
  • Provide hands-on support during build, commissioning, and testing of equipment.
  • Carry out on-site installation, commissioning, and testing activities as required.
  • Deliver training to client engineers and operators on equipment use and maintenance.
  • Provide professional technical support to clients via phone and email.
  • Support internal teams with technical input for sales enquiries and quotations.
  • Create technical drawings to support feasibility studies and rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) costings.
  • Complete bills of materials (BOMs), timesheets, and other project documentation accurately and on time.
  • Support client discussions relating to technical equipment queries and product development.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge, including emerging technologies and industry developments.
  • Provide regular project updates to management as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards, policies, and procedures (UK and international).

Person Specification:

Qualifications, Training, Knowledge & Skills: Engineering degree or equivalent relevant engineering experience (minimum 1 year). Proficiency in relevant CAD/design software. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly. Able to handle confidential and commercially sensitive information appropriately. Committed to continuous learning and staying up to date with engineering developments.
