As a Control Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing the software that controls, monitors, regulates, and automates next-generation composite manufacturing technology. From developing software design concepts through to supporting on-site commissioning, this role blends creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering. You’ll have experience in electronic and electrical software development, with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience and/or Siemens TIA Portal experience being highly desirable. The role is central to designing automated machinery, equipment, and processes for closed-mould composite manufacturing. You'll also provide technical support across a range of projects and clients internationally. You’ll work closely with colleagues, suppliers, and clients worldwide, contributing to projects spanning multiple industries. No two days are the same—one moment you may be developing detailed control system designs, and the next you could be supporting a client on the factory floor or helping refine a complex manufacturing process.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing electrical and control systems for composite moulding processes.
- Developing design concepts and producing drawings and specifications using appropriate software.
- Researching new technologies, tools, and techniques to improve equipment and processes.
- Supporting the full project lifecycle—from feasibility studies and BOMs through to build, commissioning, and client handover.
- Providing training and technical support to client engineers and operators, both in the UK and internationally.
- Collaborating with colleagues on sales enquiries, quotations, and technical problem-solving.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
What we’re looking for:
- We’re looking for a motivated Control Systems Engineer who enjoys solving problems, pushing technical boundaries, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
- You'll thrive in this role if you are curious, practical, and able to balance creative thinking with technical precision.
Skills & experience:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent experience), with at least 1 year in a relevant control systems role.
- Experience in electronic and electrical software development.
- PLC experience and/or Siemens TIA Portal experience is highly desirable.
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to create accurate, innovative, and practical design solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and databases.
Personal qualities:
- Takes ownership and pride in delivering high-quality work.
- Detail-focused with a ‘completer-finisher’ mindset.
- Curious, questioning, and comfortable challenging ideas constructively.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willing to travel within the UK and internationally when required (passport and driving licence essential).
- Eager to keep learning and stay current with new technologies and industry developments.
This role is only open to candidates who have the immediate right to work in the UK.
