As a Control Systems Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing the software that controls, monitors, regulates, and automates next-generation composite manufacturing technology. From developing software design concepts through to supporting on-site commissioning, this role blends creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering. You’ll have experience in electronic and electrical software development, with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience and/or Siemens TIA Portal experience being highly desirable. The role is central to designing automated machinery, equipment, and processes for closed-mould composite manufacturing. You’ll also provide technical support across a range of projects and clients internationally. You’ll work closely with colleagues, suppliers, and clients worldwide, contributing to projects spanning multiple industries. No two days are the same—one moment you may be developing detailed control system designs, and the next you could be supporting a client on the factory floor or helping refine a complex manufacturing process.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing electrical and control systems for composite moulding processes.
- Developing design concepts and producing drawings and specifications using appropriate software.
- Researching new technologies, tools, and techniques to improve equipment and processes.
- Supporting the full project lifecycle—from feasibility studies and BOMs through to build, commissioning, and client handover.
- Providing training and technical support to client engineers and operators, both in the UK and internationally.
- Collaborating with colleagues on sales enquiries, quotations, and technical problem-solving.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
This is a role where your ideas matter, your skills grow, and your work has a tangible impact on the future of advanced manufacturing technology.
