Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the technical team.
  • Provide technical support to production, sales, marketing and sister companies, travelling to sites as required.
  • Ensure all documentation for materials is kept current and accurate.
  • Formulate materials to maximise properties and comply with health & safety legislation.
  • Project manage the development and introduction of new materials into production.
  • Support New Product and Process Development.
  • Test materials and product to customer specifications and prepare reports to feedback results and conclusions.
  • Select materials, contacting raw material suppliers to evaluate available options and travelling as required to support development projects.
  • Ensure employees within area of responsibility are adequately trained and developed, completing training documentation and records.
  • Support consistent and fair implementation of personnel policies and procedures, managing disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy.
  • Play an active role in product and process improvement and the implementation of change.

Essential Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Candidate Attributes Required

  • Degree level qualification in materials science or plastics discipline / equivalent.
  • Experience within plastics industry, preferably within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Rubber and Plastic technologies.
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of materials and material development.
  • Knowledge of international test methods & specifications.
  • Relevant skills and experience in Business Improvement Techniques.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Outlook & Project).
  • People Centric Leadership style.
  • Takes responsibility for health, safety & environmental requirements and standards, developing systems and processes to ensure compliance and minimise risks.
