We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Retail Media Manager to join a rapidly expanding e-commerce marketplace team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building and growing a retail media business from the ground up, turning customer reach, marketplace traffic and first-party insight into a compelling advertising proposition for sellers, suppliers and brands.
The role will own the retail media strategy, proposition, product development and revenue growth, creating a scalable and measurable advertising business while ensuring the customer experience remains relevant, helpful and trusted. You will work closely with senior Marketplace stakeholders and teams across Commercial, Buying, Digital Trading, CRM, Data, UX, Marketing, Legal and Compliance, as well as external brands, agencies and technology partners.
Role Overview
As Retail Media Manager, you will be responsible for developing the retail media proposition and creating a clear roadmap for growth across onsite, offsite and other relevant advertising opportunities. You will identify new commercial opportunities, develop advertising products and packages, build advertiser relationships and manage campaigns through to delivery and performance reporting. The role combines commercial strategy, sales, product development, digital advertising, data, campaign management and stakeholder leadership, making it ideal for someone who enjoys building something new and taking ownership of a growing revenue stream.
Key Responsibilities
- Owning and developing the retail media strategy, proposition and growth roadmap.
- Identifying opportunities to grow advertising revenue across onsite, offsite and other emerging retail media channels.
- Developing retail media products, formats, packages and propositions that meet advertiser and customer needs.
- Managing advertising inventory, pricing structures, packages and rate cards.
- Building and managing a strong pipeline of prospective advertisers, sellers, suppliers, brands and agencies.
- Growing retail media revenue through new business, upselling and repeat investment.
- Building strong, long-term commercial relationships with advertisers and partners.
- Developing compelling value propositions and commercial presentations for brands, agencies, sellers and suppliers.
- Managing the full commercial process from opportunity identification and pitching through to negotiation, campaign delivery and ongoing relationship management.
- Working with Data, CRM and Legal teams to develop responsible and compliant first-party audience propositions.
- Ensuring customer data and audience solutions are used appropriately and in line with applicable privacy and consent requirements.
- Working with internal teams and external technology partners to develop effective audience targeting, campaign delivery and measurement capabilities.
- Owning campaign setup, trafficking, pacing, optimisation and performance, whether campaigns are managed-service or self-serve.
- Monitoring campaign performance and optimising activity to deliver against advertiser objectives.
- Developing clear reporting on key metrics including reach, sales impact, ROAS, conversion and incrementality.
- Turning campaign data into actionable insight and recommendations for advertisers and internal stakeholders.
- Building a robust approach to measurement and demonstrating the value generated by retail media investment.
- Managing relationships with ad technology, measurement and platform partners.
- Ensuring the retail media technology stack, integrations, tools and reporting capabilities remain fit for purpose.
- Establishing appropriate standards for advertising relevance, placement, density, creative quality and labelling.
- Working closely with Digital Trading and UX teams to ensure advertising enhances rather than compromises the customer experience.
- Ensuring retail media activity meets relevant advertising, consumer protection and data protection requirements.
- Working closely with Compliance and other specialist teams to manage risks and ensure appropriate governance.
- Collaborating with Commercial and Buying teams to align retail media with supplier relationships, funding arrangements and trading priorities.
- Working with Marketing and Digital teams to integrate retail media with broader campaigns and commercial activity.
- Developing tailored retail media propositions for different customer audiences, categories and commercial partners.
- Producing regular commercial reporting for senior stakeholders covering revenue, margin, pipeline, advertiser activity and campaign performance.
- Presenting retail media strategy, opportunities and performance to senior internal stakeholders.
- Identifying new products, channels and commercial opportunities as the marketplace and customer proposition evolve.
- Helping establish the processes, partnerships and capabilities required to make retail media a scalable and profitable business.
Retail Media Scope
The role will have responsibility across key retail media channels and activities, including:
- Sponsored products.
- Sponsored search and marketplace placements.
- Onsite display advertising.
- CRM and email opportunities.
- Offsite audience extension.
- Audience targeting and first-party data solutions.
- Campaign management and optimisation.
- Advertising packages and commercial propositions.
- Performance measurement and attribution.
- Retail media technology and platform partnerships.
- Advertising standards and customer experience.
Key Working Relationships
You will build strong working relationships with:
- Marketplace Leadership: Aligning retail media strategy, revenue growth and priorities with the wider Marketplace vision.
- Commercial & Buying Teams: Connecting retail media with supplier relationships, commercial negotiations, funding and trading priorities.
- Digital Trading, CRM, Data & UX: Working together on placements, audiences, measurement, optimisation and the overall customer experience.
- Marketing: Integrating retail media opportunities with wider campaigns, launches and promotional activity.
- Legal & Compliance: Ensuring advertising, consumer protection, privacy and data requirements are appropriately managed.
- External Partners: Building relationships with sellers, suppliers, brands, agencies, technology providers and media partners.
Essential & Desirable Skills
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience in retail media, e-commerce advertising, marketplace advertising or a closely related digital advertising environment.
- Strong commercial and sales capability, with experience building propositions and growing revenue.
- Experience developing and selling advertising solutions to brands, agencies, suppliers or business customers.
- Strong understanding of retail media models, sponsored products, onsite advertising and digital audience solutions.
- Knowledge of advertising technology, targeting, attribution and campaign measurement.
- Experience working with first-party data, audience targeting and relevant privacy considerations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret campaign performance data.
- Experience measuring advertising performance through metrics such as ROAS, conversion, sales impact and incrementality.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance revenue opportunities against customer experience.
- Experience managing external technology, media or platform partners.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Confidence presenting commercial propositions to senior stakeholders, brands and agencies.

- Experience working cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Data, Technology, Digital and Operations teams.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn ideas into commercially viable propositions.
- Experience operating within a fast-paced, high-growth business would be advantageous.
What You'll Bring to the Role
You will be commercially ambitious, entrepreneurial and customer focused, with the ability to identify opportunities and turn them into sustainable revenue streams. You will understand what advertisers need to achieve and how to create propositions that deliver value for both commercial partners and the marketplace. You will be comfortable working with data and performance metrics, using evidence to demonstrate campaign effectiveness rather than relying on high-level or vanity metrics. You will also bring strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to work across different teams and bring people together around a shared commercial opportunity. Most importantly, you will be excited by the opportunity to build and shape a growing retail media proposition as part of a rapidly expanding e-commerce marketplace.
