As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing the next generation of composite manufacturing technology. From creating early design concepts to supporting commissioning on-site, this is a role that blends creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and clients worldwide, working on projects that range from luxury marine components to aerospace innovation. No two days are the same—one moment you’ll be turning concepts into detailed designs, the next you could be supporting a client on the factory floor or refining a cutting-edge process.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery for closed moulding composite processes.
  • Developing design concepts and producing drawings and specifications using appropriate software.
  • Researching new solutions, technologies, and techniques to enhance equipment and processes.
  • Supporting the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and BOMs through to build, commissioning, and client handover.
  • Providing training and technical support to client engineers and operators, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Collaborating on sales enquiries, quotations, and technical problem-solving.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and maintaining accurate documentation.

This is a role where your ideas matter, your skills grow, and your work makes a tangible impact.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on solving problems, pushing boundaries, and delivering high-quality work. You’ll succeed here if you’re curious, practical, and able to balance creative thinking with technical precision.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency with design software—or willingness to learn—including:
  • 3D CAD: Autodesk Inventor, Rhino
  • 2D CAD: AutoCAD
  • MRP: 123 Insight
  • Confidence with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to create accurate, innovative, and practical design solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
  • Organised and detail-driven, able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Personal Qualities:

    • Pride in producing high-quality work. A “completer-finisher” mindset, spotting details others might miss.
    • Curious, questioning, and constructively challenging ideas.
    • Flexible and adaptable, able to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally (passport and driving licence essential).
    • Eager to keep learning and stay up to date with new technologies and trends.

Please note, our client does not hold a Skilled Worker Sponsorship Licence, therefore only candidates who have the immediate right to work in the UK will be considered.
