We are looking for a Senior Content Designer to lead content design work for our clients across digital and non-digital products and services. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to design how people find, understand, access and use products and services – making sure content is accessible, easy to understand and in the most appropriate format. You will also work with clients to help them develop a clear approach to producing, managing and maintaining content. You will be part of an established content design Community of Practice at TPXimpact and will collaborate with the Head of Content Design and the rest of the content design team to learn and grow together, and define how we deliver great content design work at TPXimpact.

Responsibilities

  • Working as a content designer in multidisciplinary teams – designing, prototyping, testing, building, and iterating content for products and services – from high-level flows and journeys to specific interface details.
  • Producing content design work for clients and providing support to embed content design into their ways of working – this may mean leading small teams of content designers on a larger project or programme of work occasionally.
  • Using analytics, data, user feedback and user research to identify user needs.
  • Writing and mapping user journeys to inform content strategy and design decisions based on data and user needs.
  • Supporting the development of content design strategies and governance (such as processes or ways of working).
  • Creating and editing content in line with style guides and using plain English.
  • Upskilling client teams, and the wider TPXimpact design community through training, pair‑writing and workshops – including facilitating these sessions when required.
  • Providing quality assurance to other designers.
  • Supporting user research and working with other design specialists to develop and test content, information architecture, and prototypes.
  • Sharing and documenting your knowledge and approach, helping to create best practices that will guide the consistency and quality of all our work.
  • Advocating for best practice in content design across the organisation and on all client projects.
  • Contributing to a content design community of practice at TPXimpact, making sure good content design principles are embedded throughout all the work we do.
  • Continuously maintaining and updating skills and knowledge to stay current within your relevant field of expertise, leading content design work.
  • Providing practice‑specific support on client projects.
  • Holding ambiguity with the ability to adapt to fast‑changing situations.

Internal / external interaction

  • Contributing to sales activities (bids, public speaking, blogging).
  • Managing delivery and client relationships.
  • Acting as a line manager and a mentor/coach.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading and delivering high‑quality content design work at a senior level.
  • Experience delivering content design work for online and offline journeys, as part of a wider product or service.
  • Experience working with hypothesis‑driven and user‑need‑driven approaches when iterating and improving content.
  • Experience of defining and working with data to measure success.
  • Experience designing solutions that work for everyone, including usability and accessibility considerations to meet user needs and deliver the best possible user experiences.
  • Experience producing content as part of a multidisciplinary agile team, as well as experience working alone or with other content designers as part of a content‑only stream of work.
  • Experience creating and implementing content design strategy.

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of content design and UCD principles and work to accessibility guidelines, and how to apply them to your work.
  • Able to design user‑centred, accessible content (including microcopy and long‑form content) for products and services, working to GDS standards.
  • Familiar with and able to use common design tools such as Figma, Miro, etc.
  • Able to facilitate workshops with clients and project team members.
  • Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team and assisting with other elements of design and research when required.
  • Understand and can apply a wide range of content testing methods.

Behaviours and PACT Values

  • Purpose: You will be highly value‑driven, recognising that our clients’ needs are paramount. You will be able to approach client work with professionalism, creativity and flair, using your content design expertise to create impact on your project.
  • Accountability: You will be accountable for delivering your work on time and to a good standard, to contribute to the success of a project.
  • Craft: You will be an expert in your craft, sharing your knowledge and work with others inside and outside the organisation when needed.
  • Togetherness: You will be able to collaborate effectively with others across TPXimpact. You will build strong relationships that demonstrate the importance of excellent delivery and client experience as a collective effort, rather than just focusing on your own area of expertise.
