About the Role:

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ELT processes to meet data and reporting needs. You’ll create reliable and well-documented solutions, continuously improving the performance and automation of our data warehouse environment. You will also be involved in the migration from SQL on-prem to Microsoft Fabric.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining reliable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data to downstream systems using Microsoft Fabric and other modern tools.
  • Optimising data models, queries, and pipelines for speed, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Monitoring and addressing bottlenecks or inefficiencies proactively.
  • Implementing checks, alerts, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency, fostering trust in delivered data.
  • Working closely with Insights Analysts to deliver reporting needs and partnering with the Governance team to ensure alignment with data standards and access controls.
  • Maintaining up-to-date technical documentation for all ETL processes, data transformations, and warehousing solutions.

Skills & Experience:

We’re looking for someone who brings the following skills and experiences:

  • Microsoft Fabric expertise, design, build and implementation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, automation and scripting.
  • Experience of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Fabric Dataflows Gen2, Data Factory, and notebooks.
  • Strong independent problem-solving skills, with clarity of when to ask for guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of data governance, quality, lineage, and lifecycle management.
